Over the next few weeks the Na site is going to publish some articles on biblical worldview.  We are going to hit topics like homosexuality, politics, war, abortion, money and more.

If you are new to the term “biblical worldview,” in a nutshell a “worldview” is the lens with which you interpret and perceive the world around you. Our worldview is formed by our education, our upbringing, the culture we live in, the books we read, the media and movies we absorb, etc. For many people worldview is simply something they have absorbed by osmosis from their surrounding cultural influences without much thought.

But for the Christian the lens has changed. Our culture and education does still affect our worldview, but a fundamental shift has been made in our worldview. As Christians, Christ and His Gospel and his word are now the lenses with which we interpret the world around us.

What a biblical worldview does is take what God has revealed in his word and seeks to answer fundamental questions like, “How did it all begin?  What went wrong? What is the source of evil and suffering? What can we do about it, how can the world be set right?” A biblical worldview also seeks to answer specific questions in our culture like, “What is a ‘just war’ according to the bible? How should we think about the environment?”

To help us understand this term I want to quote a section of “Total Truth” by Nancy Pearcy.

“Genuine worldview thinking is far more than a mental strategy or a new spin on current events At the core, it is a deepening of our spiritual character and the character of our lives. It begins with the submission of our minds to the lord of the universe--a willingness to be taught by Him.The driving force in worldview studies should be a commitment to love the lord your God with all your heart soul strength and mind.

“God is not just he savior of souls, he is also Lord of Creation.  One way we acknowledge His lordship is by interpreting every aspect of creation in the light of His Truth.  God’s word becomes a set of glasses offering a new perspective on all our thoughts and actions.” ("Total Truth” p. 24)

Friends we want to Kill Fuzziness when it comes to our thinking about issues like homosexuality and war and other cultural conversations. Take some time to read these articles and wrestle with them.

If you have any thoughts for us on a topic you would like us to write about or if you have a perspective we did not consider in the article don’t hesitate to comment.

Over the next few weeks King Eric is going to publish some articles on his biblical worldview.  We are going to hit topics like “who doesn’t hate the gays”, “no women, no blacks...yay mccain”, “kill”, “women don’t deserve rights”, “give us your money” and more.

Well.  Hopefully, this will not be the point of the articles written by the people we have asked.  If it was, we would not publish them.

As always, thanks for the thoughts.  If you ever have some “constructive criticism” for the way we write articles please don’t hesitate to email me at the contact us page.

Eric,

I’m excited to read the articles. Have you heard much about Focus on the Family’s The Truth Project? I’m getting ready to lead my bible study through it. It’s amazing stuff, all centered around teaching Christians what it means to have a biblical worldview. If you have not heard of it, check it out at http://www.thetruthproject.org.
